Could've easily dissected Jane Eyre all night... such a pity our tutorials only go for an hour.
Tuesday, 29 March 2016
Re-reading Jane Eyre for the bazillionth time... but this time it's for uni.
That's also the excuse I'll be using when I re-watch the 2006 BBC mini-series tomorrow.

Snacking and napping. Two Easter weekend habits I need to get rid of PDQ.
Also, wandering around the house desperately searching for JUST ONE THING to throw out in the hard rubbish collection this week. It's proving impossible to justify throwing anything, because there's barely anything left to throw, apart from stuff I'm storing for other people and I can't chuck that because it's not mine to chuck.

Grocery shopping on Easter Sunday is fraught with danger... like all the chocolate eggs being marked down to clear.
Really didn't need four packets of turkish delight eggs...

Southern-fried chicken waffles with maple butter and syrup, served with a side of mac'n'cheese. Bowery to Williamsburg, I heart you.

Cobbling together two old stories to make a new story for an assignment is legit, right?

Roll on six days off!
From work. Still got a crapload of study to do... oh well. At least I can do it in my pyjamas drinking bucketloads of tea.
Wednesday, 23 March 2016
Forgot my Wednesday night tute had been switched to Tuesday night, so unexpectedly had a free night... serendipitous, because a mate visiting from Sydders texted me to see if I was free to catch up. Much nicer way to spend my evening!

Most normal people go to bed around 10pm or 11pm.
Obviously I am not most normal people. After midnight is my usual bedtime.
However tonight, I am being normal. Not by choice, but because I'm so exhausted I can barely blink.

I keep hearing that we live in a global community... that banks are all about global business and instant money transfers.
So why is it proving impossible for me to bank one damn cheque, even if it is in GBP?
And why can't Virgin Trains East Coast just refund money to the credit card I used in the first place?

Note to self: do not get suckered into watching docos on Donald Trump... you'll only get cross.

I seriously have the world's worst sleep habits... I'm exhausted by 3pm, so take a 20 min nap which turns into an hour or more, then I'm wide awake until 1am. Hopeless.

The F1 Grand Prix track is over 6kms from my house, yet I can hear the cars as clear as if they were racing in the next street. Pity the poor folk who live in Albert Park. They must be deafened.

Last session with my acupuncturist before she goes on a year's sabbatical. Hope her locum is decent!!

All good intentions for studying all day.
Naps got in the way.
I hope this doesn't mean I'm getting sick.

Meetings, meetings and more meetings. My life is a series of meetings. It's very distracting.
Monday, 14 March 2016
I am petitioning for sleep pods at my workplace. The amount of work I can achieve after a 15 min powernap is amazing, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Was lucky enough to attend the family and friends dress rehearsal for Matilda this afternoon - BLOWN. AWAY.
It's seriously one of the best musicals I've seen in ages. Slick, funny, heartwarming and with a beautiful message about empowering yourself to 'change your story'. Our Matilda was a wonderful little moppet named Tiana, who sounded like a young Emma Watson and astonished me with her performance.

The public transport gods were smiling on me tonight... perfectly timed drop-off at the station post-friend's play (at a theatre company across the other side of town) - train to the city arrived within two minutes; made a run for the train from the city to home and jumped on just as the doors were closing. RESULT.

Grumpy Ross. My upstairs neighbour, maintaining his "arsehat" title since 2011.
(What kind of wanker has a meltdown at a plumber who's only gone to politely inform them they'll be switching off the water for 5 minutes while they fix a tap? Get a life.)

What an inspiring way to spend International Women's Day - seeing Myf Warhurst interview Carrie Brownstein. Both awesome, kick-ass, creative women.

My flight back to Melbs was two hours late. However zero fucks were given by me as:
- I had spent the afternoon having a massage and reflexology, as a thank you present from the bride's family;
- I was at the aforementioned family's house drinking $200 champagne when I received the "plane's delayed" text message;
- Their house is a five minute drive from the airport so I could just keep drinking a while longer;
- Adelaide airport on a Monday night is DEAD, so it took me three minutes to get through security; and
- Adelaide airport is TINY, so it took me another two minutes to get to my gate.

Adelaide, I do not care for your heat. I was not built for 40C weather.
Also, 7 year old girls are hilarious when you're smashing them at this:
Yes, I'm one of those terrible people who believe that kids need to learn they can't win everything. Sorry, Daisy.

New hairs, ready for Saturday. Quite a bit shorter than I'd intended, but whatevs. It'll grow.

Super Wednesday just doesn't have the same ring to it. But in Australia, saying Super Tuesday on a Wednesday is just silly.
Anyhoo, I'm excited that Hillz has taken a strong lead.
But I'm gobsmacked that Trump has too. STOP. DICKING. AROUND. AMERICA. It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye. Or Trump becomes President.

Should be studying.
Binge watching Agent Carter instead.
Sigh.
