Totally distracted from study by The Commitments being on TV. It's more than 25 years since that came out... wowzers I feel old.

Still sick. Didn't get either of the jobs I interviewed for - not because I did bad interviews, but because I'm overqualified and to quote one of the panel members from one of the jobs, I'd likely be "climbing the walls with boredom within five minutes".

Oh and to add to the mix, I'm battling with my mother's doctors who want to send her home from hospital with a major infection with nothing more than a once-a-day visit from a nurse to change the IV pack. She's spent the better part of the last year in hospital - sending her home without proper support is tantamount to a death sentence... fucking doctors.

Definitely NOT winning at life right now.

Slept right through my alarm and didn't wake up until 8:30am having a massive coughing-until-I-threw-up fit... a sure sign that I wasn't well enough for work today. Which is shitty, because I could sure do with the $$ right now.

Made it through half a day at work before throwing up everywhere. Sigh. Eating granola, yoghurt and blueberries when you have a stinking cold probably wasn't the greatest idea I've ever had.

Today is the 20th anniversary of the release of the first Harry Potter book.

Here's a visual representation of me trying to read them, whilst avoiding spoilers each time a new one was released:

Thanks, JK Rowling for creating some of my favourite female characters of all time!

My house is a disaster area... six bookcases in various stages of painting/drying about the place, no food in the house, and I woke up with a scratchy, fiery throat, swollen glands and a runny nose. Ugh. I have no time for getting sick.

Dropping a bundle on paint supplies was unintentional, but necessary, if I want to get this damn study finished by the time the Belgians arrive.
