Up at ridiculous o'clock to watch the World Cup final because my host is German. Thank god they won.

There is a rat on the other side of my bedroom wall, chomping its way through a bag of rat poison like it was candy. Disgusting. 

Spent the morning coaching actors for an educational video on midwifery. Specifically, how to examine a placenta. Actual, freshly delivered placentas were used. It. Was. Gross.

But fun.

Goroka is quite amazing. The level of poverty is incredible, but the people are super friendly and welcoming. I am getting used to hearing "White Meri! White Meri!" (white woman) from all the kids in the settlements...

Made it to Goroka with minimal disruptions. Great dinner with the peeps who will become my expat family over the next 7 weeks.

Heading to PNG first thing tomorrow. Internet will be sketchy (to put it mildly) so I will keep a manual list of One Line A Day posts (how old school!) and upload them in bulk when I get a chance.

Another day of sitting around waiting for couriers, only to have them not turn up.

Sitting around waiting for DHL is not how I wanted to spend my day... especially since they didn't turn up, throwing the plans for the next two days into chaos.

Grrrr.
